Facial 101

I’m going to share some of my favourite facials, i do love being pampered and getting them done professionally but i also enjoy doing them myself, you get a sense of achievement too when you have done a good job.  Plus a home facial is a lot more cheaper than a professional one.  I have a few home facials that i use and i also have some of my favourites that i buy.  I have mentioned some of these facials in previous posts so i will show those first.

Alba Botanica | Hawaiian Facial Mask, Pore-fecting Papaya Enzyme

image

Product description (albabotanica.com)

Rediscover Radiance.  Discover this five minute tropical retreat for an instant skin pick-me-up. Papaya and pineapple enzymes gently loosen and dissolve dull skin cells and impurities to reveal fresh, vibrant skin.

I love this facial mask, it has become a big part of my skincare routine! It smells soooo nice, the smell reminds me of being on holiday for some reason. It has a slight tingle when you put it on but it leaves your skin refreshed and clean.  I’ve found that I get the best results when I wash my face in warm water, pat dry and then put it on.  And a little goes a long way. I love this product!

Philosophy | the microdelivery peel in-home vitamin c / peptide kit

image5

Product description (boots.com)

what is it?

a two-step, in-home peel that dramatically rejuvenates the appearance of sun-damaged, hyperpigmented and ageing skin. kit includes vitamin c/peptide crystals and lactic/salicylic acid activating gel.

benefits:

• helps address fine lines and wrinkles

• resurfaces with physical and chemical exfoliation

• delivers more youthful-looking skin with vitamin c and peptides

This microdelivery peel is brilliant, it really works, leaving your skin soft, supple and clean.  The only downside to this product is the price.  Personally mine has lasted me ages because you don’t need a lot to do the job and it’s not something that i use weekly.  I would buy this product again but it would probably be a treat. 🙂

Noxzema | Deep Cleansing Cream

image7

Product description (Noxzema.com) Noxzema Original Deep Cleansing Cream gives you clean, smooth skin with the classic Noxzema tingle. It reaches deep into pores to remove dirt, oil, and makeup, leaving your skin soft and smooth. Noxzema Deep Cleansing Cream is dermatologist tested, made with eucalyptus, soybean, and linseed oils. Use it on wet or dry skin, massaging your face in a circular motion before rinsing thoroughly. Enjoy the same 12 ounces of invigorating Noxzema, now in a jar with 45 percent less plastic than before.

Benefits: 1.Deep cleans without over drying 2.Removes dirt, oil and makeup 3.Leaves skin feeling soft, smooth & healthy-looking 4.Dermatologist tested

This Noxzema cleansing cream is awesome.  It is similar to the cold cream made by Ponds which is also a brilliant product personally  i prefer this product and feel that is also better value.  What i like most about this cream cleanser is that it makes your skin feel so clean afterwards but doesn’t make you feel dry.  It leaves skin feeling nourished and moisturised.

These cooling cucumber eye pads are awesome!!!  They actually work too, i usually put them on with a facial mask before i go out.  They reduce puffy and red eyes leaving your eyes feeling bright and wide.  I picked these up from a shop called Bodycare but you can pick them up from pretty much anywhere especially online!  They work best when you store them in the fridge!

Origins|Out of Trouble – 10 minute mask to rescue problem skin

image10

Product description (boots.com)

Your troubles are over.

When skin is too-slick skin or when more pressing problems start to pop up, it’s Origins to the rescue to keep skin out of trouble. Nature’s trouble-shooters, including super-absorbent Zinc Oxide and Sulfur, calming Camphor plus skin-sloughing Salicylic Acid, rapidly respond to problem skin’s plight with a three-part plan – sop up oily-shine, slough off sticky, dead cells, and sweep away irksome debris. Together they steer skin clear of slippery situations, refine rough texture and pull the plug on troublemakers to oust potential outbursts.

This is a fantastic mask, i cannot stress it enough!  This is by far the best drying facial i have tried.  It has a really medicated smell which is a bit strange but apart from that it’s excellent.  It does what it is supposed too.  I probably use this product once a week whilst I’m in the bath and then wash it off with warm water.  Also what is great about this product is that it doesn’t flake all over the place whilst it is drying.  It stays thick and dries until you wash it off.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask

IMG_3300

The packaging and Boots.com says:

This Intense Deep Cleanse Facial Mask contains antibacterial Tea Tree Oil and skin calming Witch Hazel in conjunction with activated Charcoal to keep your skin clear and healthy by:

• The power of charcoal removes dirt, sebum and impurities deep down in the pores

• Rebalances oil to leave skin clean & purified with a silky touch

This is my new fave at the moment, i feel that it works as soon as you apply it! Although you do look a bit cray cray when its on aha! You can pick it up from Boots.

I do agree with what is written on the back of the tube, this facial is deep cleaning and refreshing leaving skin lovely and soft,  i also bought the cleansing facial wash too as i thought it was a nice pairing.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Charcoal Facial Wash

IMG_3297

I know this isn’t a facial but it goes hand in hand with the charcoal facial.  The facial wash is the same colour, which i didn’t expect and a small amount foams up a lot so you can thoroughly get all of that charcoal facial off.

Quick Fix Facials Anti-Blemish Mud Mask

IMG_3299

IMG_3332

Product description (boots.com)

Quick Fix Facials Anti-Blemish Mud Mask for Oily and Spot Prone Skin.

The problem

Excess oil, congested, blemish prone skin or a general combinational skin type

The solution

Dead Sea Mud – helps absorb and control oil production

Salicylic Acid – helps draw out impurities and tighten the pores

Tea Tree Oil – helps to treat spots and prevent future blemishes

This facial is a cheaper alternative to the Origins mask and is much more milder on the skin the only thing is that it becomes really dry and flakes.  But! It does it’s job.  I also picked up this product from Boots.

Quick Fix Facials Brightening Peel Mask

IMG_3301IMG_3303

Product description (boots.com)

Quick Fix Facials Brightening Peel Mask for Dull and Uneven Skin

The problem

Dull, tired, lifeless skin in need of a real pick me up.

The solution

Papaya Extract – helps promote cell turnover creating healthy and glowing skin

Mulberry Extract – contains skin brightening elements to help even out skin tone

Goji Berry Extract – known to stimulate and energize skin to help boost radiance

This facial is so nice and refreshing, as the mask dries, you feel your skin tightening, that’s when you know its time to peel it off, it’s pretty fun that bit :-p.  I also picked up this product from Boots and highly recommend it.  I have sensitive and oily skin and it left my skin feeling refreshed and less oilier.

….

I don’t use these products all at once or all the time.  My skin needs to rest and just breath by itself sometimes.  Have you got any facials that you swear by? If you do share and comment below…
